Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also performs music. She was also the very first and youngest female to be awarded a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is the rising star in Indian sitar. She is a student as well as sister of Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing back and forth from London in the UK to New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her debut at just thirteen years of age. Later she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, however she's got an remarkable career in the field of recording and performing. She often joins her father during performances, something she's been doing for a number of years. In 1998, she debuted Anourag as her first solo record. She released Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year after. She's performed in all important venues across the world. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't just limited to music. She also published Bapi The Heart of My Life, in 2002. It is a biography that pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. Also, in a number of films. In 2003, she acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she plays a young Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising star and her career is expected to continue growing. Anoushka Shakar, born in England spent a large part of her adult life in London Delhi. Following her move to California she completed high school. She began studying music at age 9 and was a sitar player in celebration of the 75th anniversary her father's birth in Delhi just four years after. As a part of her dad's band as they toured around the globe, Anoushka racked up a wealth of experience performing in Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also performing alongside George Harrison. She was the youngest and sole female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musical ability as an outstanding musician from music in Asian Arts.
